Way Up North

Today we traveled 12 hours by car, bus and plane to Recife in the northeast of Brazil. A city of 4 million people, Recife is often called the Venice of Brazil, due to it’s many islands among the small rivers running through the city center. With it’s beautiful white beaches it was once a major tourist destination. But over the last few years tourism has practically ceased to exist due to 47 shark attacks in the waters along the beaches. So much to the dismay of our festival team, swimming is strictly forbidden now. The good news is that tomorrow we will speak and perform on 3 different television programs; one in the morning, one early afternoon and another just before our public festival here in the evening. Estimated total viewing audiance: once again, a million people. On top of that I have an interview with the biggest newspaper in the region. Our offering to Srila Prabhupada, who blessed us with this adventurous tour in Brazil!
