When Things Don’t Go Right

Last night was the worst program of our Tour. Sometimes things just don’t go right. We performed in an outdoor amphitheater in downtown Fortaleza to only 250 people. It was very hot and humid, which greatly affected the devotees performances. Plus the entire lighting system broke down 3 times during the show. It was so ridiculous, that at one point I was considering stopping the entire performance. But we persevered and at the end the audience gave us a standing ovation. However, I think it was more out of compassion than for the level of our performance. Or perhaps they somehow perceived the essence of our production; our earnest attempt to please Srila Prabhupada and our previous acarayas despite our many faults.

“On the other hand, that literature which is full of descriptions of the transcendental glories of the name, fame, forms, pastimes and so on of the unlimited Supreme Lord is a different creation, full of transcendental words directed toward bringing about a revolution in the impious lives of this world’s misdirected civilization. Such transcendental literatures, even though imperfectly composed, are heard, sung and accepted by purified men who are thoroughly honest.
