Small Town Kirtans

As our 2-month visit to Sydney winds down we’re continuing with our kirtan parties around the suburbs. We have two more festivals to go. Seeing the reaction of the people on the streets, they might be our biggest yet.

Kirtan Cruise

On a beautiful Sunday morning over 100 devotees went for a kirtan cruise around Sydney harbor. After a lecture we chanted and danced in great bliss, as the boat passed by many of Sydney’s historic sites.

The Return of Hare Krsna’s

The St George & Sutherland Shire Leader is the undisputed number one newspaper in the Southern Sydney Region.Covering a population of over 423,832 people, The Leader stands unchallenged as the voice of the Southern Suburbs. Check out “The Leader’s” article on our Sydney festivals.

Just for Fun

We had some free time yesterday. So what did we do? We all went on harinam in downtown Sydney. We weren’t advertising any particular festival. Just having fun. And lots of it!

Lord Caitanya’s moon is rising

We just completed a two-day festival in Cronulla, south of Sydney. Each night over 400 people attended. Unfortunately, we had to turn away just as many at the door. There simply weren’t enough seats. We just finished our festival in Manly, a suburb of Sydney. The good news is that 400 people came and loved the show. The sad thing is that because of limited seating we had to turn 210 people away at the door. My heart was broken into pieces.

Sleepy Hollow

We went into the suburbs on a quiet day to advertise our upcoming shows on the outskirts of Sydney. I assumed most people had never seen devotees before, but that didn’t stop them from smiling and waving as our harinama passed by!

Beyond our imagination

Our festivals in the Sydney area are successful beyond our imagination. We are averaging 500 people a show. We are experimenting with ‘meditation workshops’ the day after the show. The workshop concludes with japa and kirtan. Yesterday over 100 people came to the workshop in Erina. They all left with a set of beads,…

New Year’s Eve

One and a half million people turned out for fireworks down by the Sydney harbor and opera house on New Year’s Eve. Most came early to get a good vantage point. As they sat for hours, waiting for the midnight show, we weaved in and out of the crowd to their great delight.
